Some Call It a Passion

As the General Manager of the very busy Holiday Inn Express Savannah Historic District,
Wendy McBride knows how to delight the guests and lead the team that it takes to get the job done.

Just look at her online reviews: “Desk personnel went above and beyond providing great customer service (helped me recoup a lost bag in record time). Room was clean and comfortable. Concierge located restaurants and booked our tours. Kudos to Ms. Wendy McBride and her superb staff!”

Rarely do General Managers get called out in such glowing reviews, but this isn’t surprising coming from McBride.

BEGINNING OF HER PASSION
Some may call it a job, but McBride calls it her passion. When her kids were young, she was looking for a job that would get her out of the house and provide her with a way to advance in her career. She started in 1994 with the local
hotel company, Savannah Lodging.

“I started working at the front desk part-time, from there I worked as a reservationist. Then, I became the Front Desk Manager and then the Operations Manager, and then the General Manager,” said McBride.

Management saw her potential, and her ability to lead. All along the way, she got paid, on-the-job training to manage, train, and motivate her team to provide the highest level of service to the guests.

Seeing her in action, it’s no surprise for the record number of tourism awards for which she has been nominated. For a leader who sees her team like family, her tourism success has just begun.
